Ariel is a Theater Director, Actor, and administrator. She earned her MFA in Theater as an Iowa Arts Fellow at The University of Iowa, and her work has been seen throughout her home base of New York City, as well as in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and beyond. Her favorite directing credits to date are her husband’s play Faculty Portrait, a story of healing from gun violence, and Meg Jo Beth Amy and Louisa, a queer take on Little Women, which toured the country. Favorite acting roles include Lady Macbeth and Izzy in Shelter, a post-apocalyptic thriller.
She has worked as an administrator for various companies in the city, but her proudest achievement was running The Navigators, A Feminist Sci-Fi Theater Company. The Navigators generated original sci-fi works for the stage, producing full-length productions as well as a popular annual festival, becoming the reigning Sci-Fi Theater Company in New York for five years. Her feminist ideals brought her to the women-led New York Academy of Medicine. She is currently working with the SVP of Research to develop the NYAM Narrative Health program, which elevates and amplifies medical and public health challenges by presenting theater, cinema, and visual arts.
She on her way toward achieving her goal of performing in every play in the Shakespeare canon.
In her spare time Ariel likes to take long walks in her NYC neighborhood of Riverdale, read, and sing - all with her daughter Georgia. She is also a career and life coach, specializing in helping actors transition to new adventures.
